The MGFL began in the summer of 2007 with 7 teams. That
inaugural season was a success, and the league experienced steady
growth thereafter. 11 teams competed in 2008, and 17 teams filled
out the 2009 schedule. Over that time, the MGFL has welcomed a
diverse cast of teams including highly competitive "tournament"
club teams, budding club teams looking to get a strong start, and
more casual teams linked only by a relationship to a school.
Despite the differences in the goals and aspirations of these teams,
all have found the opportunity to develop their skills, learn the
valuable lessons that competition offers, and have some great fun,
all while growing their love for softball.
